Museum – reserve "Tsaritsyno" invites you on October 8 at a press presentation of the new permanent exhibition "Art of the Grand style (Soviet decorative – applied art 1961 – 1991)", which will be opened at the Grand Palace.
"Art Manege" – so, a few dismissive critics and art historians used to call works of painting, sculpture and decorative art, in 1960 – 1980 – ies was designed for major art exhibitions of the country. In post-Soviet times they were often accused of officialdom, primitive partisanship. Since then, however, was the last "Manezh" exhibition, more than thirty years. It is time to look at our heritage from a fresh perspective.
The collection of decorative arts of the Museum – reserve "Tsarina",which was founded in 1984 as the State Museum of decorative-applied art of the peoples of the USSR, was formed largely from the works visited at national, Union and international exhibitions and received many awards. Most of them were intended for public spaces, Museum and exhibition life. The emphasis was on the uniqueness of the author's statements, unusual means of expression. Gave preference to large-scale themes, major forms, generalized, metaphorical language. It was a Great art style. In the 1970 – 1980-ies, it set the tone, attracted the talents, defined the face of domestic decorative art.
The exhibition "Art of the Grand style" that occupies the halls of the Palace, about 900 square meter, built on a thematic principle that prevailed at "Manezh" exhibition. Its sections ("defending the Motherland", "Holidays and weekdays", "On open spaces of the great Motherland", "Youth and sport", "Art – people", "Earth and space", etc.) represent almost all of the most important aspects of the ideologically given worldview, which was intended to reflect the art of that era.
In the halls of the exhibition are presented more than 400 items of the strongest sections of the museum collection, the work of the most talented authors whose work has blossomed in the 1960 – 1980 years. This glaziers B. Smirnov, S. Beskinskaya, V. Muratov, A. Ostroumov, L. Saveliev, B. Fedorov, V. Filatov, V. Shevchenko, Dmitri and Ludmilla Shushkanov; the porcelain- P. Leonov, V. Gorodetsky, I. Olevska, E. Gatilova; the ceramists -Vladimir Gorislavtsev, A. Zadorin, V. Zubova, A. Bdeyan, V. Skevin, L. Shulgate ; master of tapestry R.Heimrad, R. Bogoslova, L. Sokolova, B. Migal, M. Tomberg, L. Altman, S. Gavin, M. Zvirbule, L. Erm, G. Kandareli and many others. By choosing the best of the best, we offer the modern viewer to appreciate how decorative art 1961 – 1991 years have been able to sustain an impartial test of time.
