Gallery "Eye" was founded in 2002 and since that time it is one of the largest art galleries in Moscow, specializing in pictures. The gallery focuses impressive collection (more than 4000 works) of photos of the most famous Russian photographers, as well as many foreign authors.
Although specialization gallery is a contemporary conceptual photography in the gallery you can find works and classics of the Soviet period. Gallery presents such important artists as Alexander Rodchenko, Dmitry Baltermants, Alexander Abaza, Alexander Viktorov. Original prints of these photographers can only be purchased in the gallery “Eye”. Of modern Russian photographers gallery works with Victor Ahlomov, Sergey Borisov, Sergey Burasovsky, Vadim Hominem – authors, who has already become known in the world. In addition, we try to choose the best, in our opinion, young Russian photographers and help them find their audience and collectors. Ivan Mikhailov, Timofey Parschikov, Sofya Tatarinova already showing their work at international festivals, receive various prizes. In our understanding, this is the face of a young Russian photography, and we really believe in them.
Gallery “Eye” also tries to educate our spectators and collectors with Western artists. In the walls of the gallery already held the exhibitions Harry Gruyere, the Marco Delogu, Bogdan Konopka, Liu Bolin. We are proud to work with Sarah moon, by Alex Webb and Sabine Weiss.
The premise which is now occupied by the gallery “Eye” – already for the third time in its history. The first five years of its existence the gallery held in the building of Moscow House of Photography, street Ostozhenka. A further four years on the territory of “Art-Strelka”, where the gallery had to leave in early 2010. In the summer of 2010, we finally opened the new premises also in the very center of Moscow on Malaya Ordynka. The current area of the gallery is a former workshop halva factory of Rot – Front.
