International Fund of Slavic writing and culture, public Association, established in 1986 and officially registered in March 1989 with the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II.
Planned from the inception of the Foundation's programme has the aims at the identification, study, preservation and promotion of monuments of Slavic writing, traditions and culture of the Slavic peoples.
International Fund for Slavic literature and culture was the initiator on the 24-th of May the day of Saints equal to the Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius, the annual festival of Slavonic writing and culture. In 1993 by decree of the President of the Russian Federation the festival acquired the status of a state and is celebrated in all parts of our country. The first President of the Foundation was a prominent Russian philologist and Slavist, specialist in the history of Slavic literary languages, Slavic dialectology and semasiology, the founder of the Russian ethnolinguistic school, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikita Ilyich Tolstoy.
In 1992, for the first time after the revolution of 1917, on the initiative of the Fund and with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, a delegation of the Fund headed by Bishop Vasily (Rodzianko) in Moscow was brought the Holy fire from the Holy Sepulchre. The lamp with the Holy fire carried through all Slavic countries and was placed in the pedestal of the monument of the Holy equal to the Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius, which was established one of the first President Fund, a National artist of Russia V. M. Klicovym. The monument was erected in the centre of Moscow, Slavyanskaya Square (to this day the area Nogina, renamed by the initiative of the FOUNDATION).
In 1994, the Foundation implemented the international peacekeeping mission "From the Varangians to the Greeks" and on the embankment of the Greek city of Thessaloniki where we were both from the first teacher of Slavic Saints, emblazoned since the established Foundation Thank-a Memorial Cross of the Slavic peoples.
The Foundation has always acted as the initiator of creation of the Slavic monuments to national heroes. The author of most of them is V. M. Klykov, people's artist of Russia, a famous sculptor, the President of IFAP and K. the Opening of monuments in Moscow, in other Russian cities and abroad has always been associated with significant events in the history of the Russian state.
To celebrate the 50-th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war was erected the Bell tower of Victory at Prokhorovka field (the epicenter of the famous Kursk battle); the opening of the monument to Peter Velukuj in Lipetsk was dedicated to the 300-th anniversary of the Russian fleet; to Prince Vladimir in Belgorod coincided with the anniversary of the city; Holy Reverend Ilia Muromets in Murom, the ancient, also coincided with the Day of the city; of the Holy equal to the Apostles brothers Cyril and Methodius in the city of Samara, was dedicated to the celebration of Day of Slavic writing and culture etc.
1998 was to Fund a year of preparation and holding, with the support of the State Duma of the Russian Federation since 2 till 5 July in Prague Slavic Congress convened in honor of the 150-th anniversary of the first Slavic Congress. It was attended by 500 delegates from 12 Slavic countries.
Still one of the most important public acts of the Fund is to fulfill the mission "Light of the World", which was held with the Blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II, with the active assistance of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Russia. As part of this mission in 2000 in Bari (Italy), the walls of the Russian spiritual centre was established sculptural image of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker (the prototype of St. Nicholas). In 2004 there was the opening and consecration of sculptural images of St. Sabbas in Belgrade and the image of the Valaam Mother of God in Moscow. Niksic, with the participation of His Holiness Patriarch Pavle of Serbia and was accompanied by a great concourse of the Serbian Orthodox people.
In 2005 in the jubilee year of the 50-th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic war, Greece was a monument to Russian soldiers who died for the freedom and independence of Greece. This is the first and only monument in Greece (Athens), prior to that, our Russian official delegation could not even honor the memory of our soldiers. There were only mass graves of Russian soldiers in different parts of the country.
Another initiative of the Foundation is organization and holding of festivals of Russian songs to them. Nadezhda Vasilievna Plevitskaya, in her homeland – in the village of Vinnikovo Kursk region. Now it is an annual public festival, goal and objectives, to promote and to support the traditions of Russian song and identify new talent from among the common people.
In addition, the Foundation holds an annual celebration of anniversaries and significant events of Slavic history and culture, is engaged in the strengthening of comprehensive relations and cooperation between Slavic peoples, organizes pilgrimage and peacekeeping missions. For several years at the Foundation courses the Church Slavonic language, which contribute to the preservation and enhancement of our native language.
In 1992, October 14, by order of the President of Russia Eltsin B. N. The Fund was transferred to the building to accommodate International Slavonic cultural centre.
The monument, fragment of the city the noble estate of the XVIII – XIX centuries, is located in a small cozy Chernigov street of Zamoskvorechye neighborhood with surprising slim-cupola Church is the Church of the XVII century, Wonderworkers of Chernigov Prince Mikhail and his boyar Theodore. The most ancient is the core of a two-storey main house, built at the junction of XVII – XVIII centuries a captain of the life guards Preobrazhensky regiment Vasily Timofeevich Rzhevsky, which Peter was granted land here. In the first quarter of XVIII century the estate passed into the hands of the Keeper of the cloth factory, a Moscow merchant of the First Guild Ivan G. Zhuravleva. Zhuravleva after its owners were merchants Vasilyev, then the Moscow merchant's wife Maria Petrovna Barkov, after her honorary citizens of the city merchants Grachev. And every time the house is rebuilt and updated. The fifth stage of the transformation came during the period of ownership of the house the First Guild merchant, a dealer in leather A. A. Durilium from 1908 to 1914. At the same time, the Department of Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna Durylina rents a house for a grammar school, which had been worked famous architect Vladimir Sherwood. High school lasted until 1917. After the revolution the school was converted into secondary school. During the great Patriotic war the building housed a hospital. In 1950-ies the main house was adapted for kindergarten. In 1982 the Government's decision the building was given to the Museum by the artist A. A. Plastov.
The building Fund is a rich cultural programme: exhibitions, art exhibitions, concerts, creative meetings and evenings.
Feature of exhibition activities is the expansion of relations of the Centre with artists from different parts of our country. The Foundation hosted the exhibition: "Motherland is my favorite" (11 artists from St. Petersburg), "Spaces of Orenburzhie" exhibition, Yaroslavl, Kursk artists.
In the framework of the exhibition activities of the Fund with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy II traditionally held 2 times a year Slavic book fair "Triumph of Orthodoxy". In fairs participating publishers, workshops, individual masters from Moscow, Moscow region and other Russian cities. Fairs are books, objects of decorative and applied art, Church utensils, and crafts.
One of directions of work of the Fund is charity.
In addition to assisting artists in the organization of exhibitions, much work is being done with children, signed a contract with the school Gnesin musical evenings for children, including from Orphanages and boarding schools, held a charity Christmas tree, the holidays "Pancake", exhibitions and other events.
In the concert hall on a monthly basis are more than twenty events. Traditionally at last Thursday of each month are held literary – musical night from the series "Word of glory" (leading the famous poetess Nina Kartashova); evening from the cycle "Slavic tree" holds poetess Irina Panova; very successful performances of "Slavic face" of the programme of Russian classical music, evenings of bard song (Director-B. Shcheglov). Are always successful folk singer of Russia Tatyana Petrova, folk groups "Rusichi", "old Russian chant", "Cossack circle", etc. Signed a contract with the Moscow Philharmonic.
To achieve the goals identified statutory activities of the Fund, expanded relations with regions of Russia, created the offices of the Fund, has organized the Days of culture of cities and regions of Russia. In recent years were "Days of culture" Yaroslavl, Ivanovo, Lipetsk, Samara regions, Republic of Bashkortostan, the Udmurt Autonomous Republic. Visitors got acquainted with the cultural heritage of these regions through art exhibitions, concerts with participation of artists, both professional and Amateur groups.
The Fund is a co-organizer of the III musical "Alexander Nevsky Festival in Moscow" held with the blessing of Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Vladimir and arts Festival, "Blessed be the warriors", received in 2010 the blessing of his Holiness Patriarch Kirill to conduct on a national scale.
International Fund for Slavic literature and culture with a programme of concerts – lectures "MEETING with CLASSICS".
In September 2009 at the Russian centre of science and culture (Kyiv) jointly with IHSN, the Foundation held a Youth seminar,which is dedicated to the 300-th anniversary of Poltava battle. The seminar was attended by over 100 people – representatives of youth organizations of Russian compatriots from all regions of Ukraine (Lviv, Chernihiv, Lugansk, Bar, Poltava, Sevastopol, Zaporozhye, Simferopol, Lutsk, Severodonetsk, Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Kherson, Khmelnytsky, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Rivne, Kirovograd, Odessa, Uzhgorod, Lisichansk), Kyiv pupils and students.
29 – 30 September 2009 in the city of Kharkov in the building of the Kharkiv national University named after V. N. Karazin Kharkiv national University in cooperation with the Federal Agency "Rossotrudnichestvo" and IHSN was held the international seminar "N. V. Gogol in world culture",which is dedicated to 200 -th anniversary from the birthday of the great writer.
The Foundation developed a number of projects aimed at the service of Russia, the love and respect of our Motherland, strengthening ties between the fraternal peoples.
