Moscow School of photography and multimedia named after A. Rodchenko was founded in 2006, it is a structural division of the State budgetary institution of culture of Moscow "Multimedia complex of actual arts, which also includes the Museum "Moscow House of Photography and Multimedia Art Museum.
The school is grateful to the family of Alexander Rodchenko his daughter Varvara Alexandrovna Rodchenko and grandson Alexander Nikolaevich Lavrentieva for permission to use the name of a great photographer in the name of the School and for active participation in her life. One of the founders of the School was a famous Russian artist Vladimir Kupriyanov (1954 – 2011).
Within the main (budget) educational programme, developed based on the experience of the leading contemporary art schools in the world and inspired by the Russian schools of avant-garde, the Rodchenko school prepares contemporary artists, professionals in the field of photography and multimedia for directions: documentary photography, art photography, video art and multimedia.
Creative management of students is carried out by the leading Russian contemporary artists and photographers, participating in prestigious international exhibitions, owners of authoritative art awards. Over the years, the leaders of the workshops main programme were Vladimir Kupriyanov, Sergey Bratkov, Vladislav Efimov, Oleg Klimov, Tatiana Liberman, Roman Minaev, Igor Mukhin, Valery Nistratov, Kirill Preobrazhensky, Anastasia Khoroshilova, Aristarkh Chernyshev and Alexei Shulgin. Theoretical courses in the school read the well – known Russian and foreign art critics, curators and critics – Ekaterina Degot, Antonio Geusa, Alexander Evangely, Eugenia Kikodze, David Rieff, Mikhail Sidlin, Sergei Khachaturov, etc. For the students of the 2nd and 3rd courses are workshops – lab – Laboratory of modern art" Ekaterina Degot and David Riff, "InterMedia" Roman Minaev, "Public art" Haim Sokol and other master classes in School are the well – known Russian and foreign artists and photographers, lectures by invited foreign professors.
Practical courses provide students with basic knowledge of photography, videography and audio, skills, professional photo and / or video equipment, Studio lighting, skills, hand printing, digital image processing, digital editing, 3D animation and other School Premises equipped photographic Studio, darkroom, computer, skanirovanii and editing classes. The School also has a library and an exhibit hall. At the end of the course students have the opportunity to exhibit their project at the graduation exhibition in the Multimedia Art Museum (Moscow).
Students and graduates regularly participate in Russian and international exhibitions and festivals, nominated for the prestigious professional contests and receive prestigious award (for the second year in a row, the School's graduates Rodchenko become winners of the Kandinsky Prize in the category "Young artist of the year").
Under the additional (commercial) programs School Rodchenko offers a large selection of intense and prolonged courses are addressed to students of different age groups and skill levels.
