The museum is unique. It preserves and promotes both material and intangible heritage of the Russian people, as some of the world's cultural heritage. In 1982, the Moscow Association of Artists was formed – "workshop of the national charts," there are more than 100 craftsmen. There were collected rare exhibits of this unique genre of folk art, was developed the style of popular print, restored (1981), "The Bible for the poor" (1692 – 1696) by Vasily Koreny and more than 120 different subjects of Russian popular print, initiated exhibitions. On the basis of the transmitted by V. Penzin personal collection and works of Workshop May 22, 1989 was established the Moscow Museum of Folk graphics.
The museum is located in the historic center of Moscow, where once there was a unique artistic and printing art form. It presents the popular prints of the Russian people. Visitors learn about the history of popular print, with its different kinds: spiritual, historical, songs, satirical, decorative, instructive. In addition to the museum features a collection of clay toys of Abashevo handicrafts.
Lubok – Russian folk picture – art, paper and printing art form appeared in the middle of the XVI century, simultaneously with the book of Ivan Fyodorov "The Apostle", 1564. The museum's art school "Bright colors splint – XXI Century". Holds regular master – classes for preschool and school age.
