At the heart of the building is the foundation of residential chambers of the XVII century. Author's real name is unknown . Grabar suggested that the house was created by Legrand, who worked in Moscow in 1773 – 1791 years.
The mansion burned in a fire during the occupation of Moscow by the French troops, but was rebuilt. In this era, the house belonged to Prince Dmitry Lobanov – Rostov (1758 – 1838), General of Infantry, War of 1812 . In the 1820s the owner of the house was Major Gruschetsky, a relative of the famous Decembrist . Bestuzhev – Rumin and brothers Muravyovs – Apostles. Gruschetsky was not included into the secret society, but maintained a close friendship with the Decembrists. Some time in this house lived the widow of the Decembrist Fonvizina Natalia which, according to contemporaries, served as the prototype of Tatyana Larina. Subsequently House has repeatedly changed its owners, including collegiate assessor Shamardin merchant Zaitsevsky. The last known owner of a merchant environment was the first guild merchant's wife Leah Aronovna Gurevich.
After the 1917 revolution in the mansion lived two families: one of military doctor Khorav and of engineer Pyatyshev, which moved from Petrograd to Moscow in 1918. In the 20s during the sealing of the house were formed communal apartments, which existed here before the end of the 1960s.
