"Khamovniki" is an old Moscow mansion. Tolstoy had bought it in 1882 collegiate secretary – I. A. Arnautova. He had been living here with his family 19 winters, till the spring of 1901, every summer, he was spending in Yasnaya Polyana. Of the 13 children of family Tolstoys was living in Moscow 10 children: 3 daughters – Tatiana, Maria, Alexandra; 7 sons – Sergey, Ilya, Leo, Andrew, Michael, Alex, Vanya.
Khamovnichesky house writer has created almost one hundred works, including the novel "Resurrection", the story "the Death of Ivan Ilyich, "Kreutzer Sonata", "Father Sergiy".
C 1921 house at the current Lev Tolstoy Street 21 is a memorial Museum, a part of the State Museum of L. N. Tolstoy.
