The Union of cinematographers of the Russian Federation is the Russian public organization, uniting about 5 thousand filmmakers.
According to the Charter, the Union is based on individual membership, voluntary, self – governed public Association established on the initiative of citizens to safeguard the overall interests of the professional figures of cinema, together to achieve statutory goals.
Filmmakers, members of the Union, United in 13 professional guilds: the film writers, editors, Directors, artists, make-up artists, composers, cameramen, sound engineers, actors, stuntmen, film critics, producers and organizers of cinema, kinotechnika.
The Union operates on the territory of more than half of subjects of the Russian Federation through its regional subdivisions – organizations, branches and representative offices. The largest regional offices are in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Sverdlovsk branch.
The founding Congress of the Union of cinematographers of Russia has passed on the 28-th of February, 1990.
