It was opened to the public on the 15-th of October, 1938 in Moscow, Mayakovsky Pereulok of Mayakovsky (formerly of Gendrikov Pereulok) at № 15/13, in 1974 the Museum was moved to the travel Serov (now Lubyansky Proezd). In 1987 – 1989, the Museum had experienced an extensive restructuring and complete renovation of the exposition, but at all times the Foundation for the work was on understanding of the meaning of Mayakovsky as the outstanding poet of Russia and understanding of the need to preserve the variety of his artistic heritage and memorial Fund for future generations.
Mayakovsky firstly had arrived in Moscow in 1906, with her mother Alexandra Alekseevna and sister Olga – after the tragic death of his father, Vladimir Konstantinovich. By this time, the elder sister of future poet, Lyudmila already had lived and studied in Moscow at the Stroganov school. The family lived in rented apartments, and often changing them.
