Gallery Nagornaya has started its work in 1978. This is the first State gallery in Moscow, which celebrated its 35 – th anniversary. Initially, the gallery showed mostly academic painting (socialist realism, critical realism, “severe style”, “left” MOSH), but over the years the focus has shifted to the use of traditional painting techniques in modern art and interaction of academic painting XX – XXI centuries and unpicturesque kinds of modern art, such as installation, performance, multimedia, photography. Among the artists who have exhibited in the gallery “Nagornaya”, we can mention Anatoly Zverev, Boris Messerer, Ivan Aivazovsky, Tahir Salahov, Vladimir Nemukhin, Konstantin Khudyakov, Tatyana Nazarenko, Andrey Bartenev, Boris Golenkova, Boris Efimov, Nikolai Nesterov, Sergei Barkhin, Tatiana Mavrina. Many projects of the gallery organizes in cooperation with the major Moscow and regional museums, cultural foundations, creative unions, artistic Universities, cultural centers, embassies of different countries, as well as the heirs of collectors and artists. During the gallery has got wide popularity and strong reputation, thanks to the active creative activity, major exhibition projects and musical – literary programs. The gallery held more than 1,000 art projects. Today it is one of the leading public art galleries in Moscow, which occupies a leading position in the contemporary art space.
