February 7, 2007, Moscow Museum of Modern Art opened a new exhibition space on Tverskoy Boulevard. Since the late 1960s, this space served as a creative workshop of the current President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. In different time the guests of artist were famous poets and writers, singers, musicians, artists, scientists, journalists and public figures. Here are a few of the iconic names of poets – Andrei Voznesensky and Yevgeny Yevtushenko; writers – Chingiz Aitmatov and Vasily Aksenov; artists – Robert Rauschenberg, Tahir Salahov, Boris Ugarov, Nikolai Ponomarev, Coca Ignatov, Yuri Kuper; directors, actors, musicians and singers – Sergei Gerasimov and Tamara Makarova, Eldar Ryazanov, Danelia, Vladimir Vysotsky, Galina Volchek, Rolan Bykov, Iosif Kobzon, Zurab Sotkilava, Maya Plisetskaya, Rodion Shchedrin, Robert Sturua; Journalists – Henry and Artyom Borovik; scientists – Yevgeny Velikhov, Pyotr Kapitsa; Doctors – Vladimir Burakovsky, Svyatoslav Fyodorov, Leo Bokeria, Leonid Roshal; Italian movie star Marcello Mastroianni and Adriano Celentano, and many, many others.
With the opening of the gallery on Tverskoy Boulevard, Moscow Museum of Modern Art has had an opportunity to expand its exhibition activities and more fully acquaint viewers with the newest trends in contemporary art. Cozy gallery space is popular with the public and has already become a full participant in the artistic life of the capital.
