Museum of Russian popular print and naive art is located in a unique building – stone mansion built in 1907, the only remaining from a holiday village early twentieth century “Novogireevo.”
The territory of modern Moscow district “Novogireevo” absorbed two villages: Gireev and Novogireevo. About the first of them – Gireev – village on dry land south of Old Vladimir road now few people know.
In the 1960s, as part of its territory Perov city and surrounding land Ivanovski included within the city. About the past of the village remind only a stone church Vernicle, Terletsky oakwood and ponds.
The first written about the settlement of Gireev refer to the XVI century. Then it was called still Gubin. Scribe books 1573 – 1574 finds Gubino in patrimonial possession of Fyodor Vasilyevich Sheremetiev. It is not known exactly when and from whom they received Sheremetevs Gubino. At the end of the XV century a known Yakov Vikent’ev Guba, and in the beginning of XVI century. – Michael Guba Stoginin and Ivan Guba Kuneev. Second name hamlet legend connects with the Crimean Khan Girey, but it is nothing more than fiction. Obviously, placename dating back to the nickname or surname Gireev kettlebell.
In the second half of the XVII century. Gireev belonged to Prince Golitsyn Alexei Andreyevich, and after his death in 1694 departed to his sons Ivan and Fyodor.
The next century in the history of Gireev inextricably linked with the name Torletskih. Their estate formed by the middle of the XIX century. Was one of the first commercial councilor Alexander Loginovich Torletsky. Gireev village with three peasant households fell to him before the Crimean War. At the end of the XIX century. estate owned hereditary honorary citizen wife Elena G. Torletskaya.
According to the recollections of old – timers , Torletskih manor , surrounded by an oak forest and ponds, looked very picturesque.
Late autumn 1899 one of the cottages near Gireev was commissioned by an art workshop. Located here with his disciples I. I. Levitan. In the spring of that year, he worked in the lumpy, loved to wander through the groves, and in the evening went to look at the swamp. But money from the School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture has always lacked – so had to leave the old cottage, and the choice fell on the other, in Gireev, with picturesque flower garden and linden alley. The disciples were in a hurry to write old linden.
Levitan gave advice and corrected, if that – that he did not like. With the onset of winter landscape painters moved to Moscow, and the next, the last in the life Levitan, he took a fancy to Khimki and Gireev was abandoned.
In the summer of 1907, according to the memoirs Bakhrushin, ” the old man ‘s son Torletsky allocated part of his estate, the so – called New Gireev. Young master hacked in the secular forest glade, carpenters and became caught up hastily erect cottages, in order to improve financial affairs sufficiently loosened the carelessness of his father. ” Converted manor was rapidly transformed into dacha outside Moscow area.
Manor remained in the early – 1930s. By tradition the name are separated by itself Gireev, which had a church and old Gireev, located a few kilometers north – west of it.
Next door to Gireev was released from his village Novogireevo. Until 1970, it was located in the former district of the capital Perovsky. In 1965 – 1970 village was demolished and in its place built a new modern residential area. A new district was named for continuity Novogireevo.
First is the name referred to a small pamphlet edition 1906 “Description of the only Russian landscaped Novogireevo little village at its own platform.” “Good…” was defensive inscription: “Alexander Ivanovich Torletskogo Languages.”
