Cultural-educational center "The Pokrovsky gates", founders of which are the Catholic charity Caritas European part of Russia (ECR), Italian Catholic Fund "Christian Russia" and "Christian educational center of St. Cyril and Methodius"(Minsk, Belarus) is a unique project alive and open meetings of spiritual and cultural traditions of East and West. Cultural center "The Pokrovsky gates" sees its main task in the revival and spread of the Christian culture through the implementation of various creative and public projects. It is a scientific and theological seminars, public dialogue meetings, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, presentations, publishing activities, distribution of literature on the programme "Book – mail".
In November 2004 Cultural center "The Pokrovskie gate" after a thorough and gentle restoration has moved to new premises – the mansion-homestead of family Botkins on Pokrovka Street. In the second half of the XIX century, the gallery of Dmitry Petrovich Botkin, a member of the Moscow art society, possessor of vast collection of paintings by Western European artists, was one of the sights of Moscow. This historical fact can be considered symbolic: almost 150 years ago in this house had thrown a bridge between the cultures of Russia and Western Europe. Cultural center "The Pokrovskie gate" hopes to continue this tradition, to breathe into it new life and become a place of meeting and dialogue of all who seek the true values of human culture.
