Cosmoscow, the only international contemporary art fair, will take place at Gostiny Dvor of Moscow on September 6-9, 2018. Apart from the principal program where, by tradition, Russian and international galleries will take part, several special projects will be presented as part of the fair. They will include a new project Cosmoscow Artist of the Year 2018 by Taus Makhacheva, as well as a foremely announced site-specific project by Alexey Martins who has won recently the grant in contemporary art Ruinart Art Patronat.
September is as usual one of the most intensive months in the cultural life of Russian capital. At the same time with Cosmoscow several significant art-events will also take place. One of them is, in particular, the solo exhibition of the Russian artist Svetlana Shuvaeva held by the Moscow Museum of Modern Art and SmartArt Foundation (September 5 – October 14). The exposition will be executed as an artist’s total site-specific installation over which she will work directly at the museum platform. It will be recalled that Svetlana Shuvaeva was Cosmoscow Artist of the Year in 2016.
Margarita Pushkina, founder and director of the Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair, founder of the Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art: “I am delighted that each year the Cosmoscow Contemporary Art Fair is growing attracting more participants and visitors. I think this is mainly the result of our systematic work on promoting the modern art in total and assisting the specific artist in particular. This is the program for the recently created Cosmoscow Foundation for Contemporary Art which attracts to its activity the significant representatives of the expert community. Over 5 years of experience, professional expertise and high level of public interest allow us to hope that in 2018 the fair will be again a success”.
The Cosmoscow International Contemporary Art Fair aimed at uniting both Russian and international collectors, gallery dealers and artists was founded by collector and philanthropist Margarita Pushkina in 2010. At present it is the only international art-fair in Russia and CIS. Since 2014 the fair takes place in September fixing the place in the international art-calendar. The fifth Cosmoscow fair was held at Gostiny Dvor on September 8-10, 2017 representing the record number of 54 Russian and international galleries; about 19,200 visitors attended the fair.
