From 20 of March to 19 of May 2015 in the Russian Museum of Decorative – Applied and Folk Art will host the first in Russia Biennale of innovative textile "Inventing fashion." Technical progress, time and change of human needs contributed to the creation of new materials and innovation, including in the field of textile industry. Gradually the "smart" fabric with super – properties becomes an integral part of creating not only professional, but also modern designer clothes – it protects against rain, harmful environmental influences, nourishes the skin with vitamins and smells of orchids but at the same time it is beautiful and elegant. Under the theme of the Biennale of this year – "Inventing fashion" – the project will talk about the impact of innovation on the formation of modern fashion and lifestyle.
The main purpose of the Biennale of innovative textiles – to become a platform for creativity, new inventions and collaborations of professionals in the field of textile industry, museums, scientists, researchers, artists, and young designers.
The exposition, showing the evolution of the web from the first natural fibers to high-tech clothing with super – properties, will present more than 400 exhibits from the collections of major Russian museums (VMDPNI, Polytechnical Museum, Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow Museum, the State Museum of Contemporary History of Russia, the State Museum of Art of Peoples of East, State Darwin Museum, the Museum of art fabrics MGUTiD of Kosygin,), inventions of Russian scientists, collections of leading international designers, including the legendary designer Massimo Osti, the collection of Russian designers Ludmila Norsoyan, Victoria Andreyanova, Victoria Irbaieva, objects of winners of the Biennale Tsvetkova Natalia, Natalia Timakova and the group Whisper.
Among the exhibits: an analog of punched cards, demonstrating the principle of operation of the first in the world loom, created by René Jaccard in 1790 – this invention is called "the first computer technology," of the textile industry. The first Russian 3D-dress-and 3D-handbag Gucci, «grown" with the official permission of administration of the brand. Of great interest are the experimental developments of Russian scientists for the aerospace and defense industry and sport. One of the main exhibits will be a dress «Confluens» of winners of the Biennale the group «Whisper». The project is devoted to the topic of human adaptation to the surrounding modern reality. Drawn up on the basis of the principles of camouflage dress – Whisper's group object interacts with visitors through sensor devices, demonstrating the principle of mimicry as a primary means of human survival in the city. The dress will be noticeable only when the viewer comes up to it.
In contrast with the latest developments in the field of textile industry, the exhibition will also feature a rare historical exhibits: excellent tissue samples of the Middle and Far East, are a real miracle of technology of weaving, _ boards for creating pattern on a fabric of the late XIX century, costumes of XIX – XX centuries, rare photographs of the process of textile production of beginning of the XX century, and others. The exhibition is the history of textiles: from the origins of yarn and fabrics, through a revolutionary invention of chemical materials (nylon, dedron) to super durable developments of industry for clothes of "dangerous" professions – sportsmen, firefighters and astronauts, as well as motorcycle riders with subsequent interpretation of these materials in modern author's fashion.
