We invite You to the Museum of contemporary art Garage 30.10 – 31.10.2015 at the fourth international conference: "A long and happy life. The construction and conceptualization of the Soviet city. Since 1956 to the present day"
Conference "A long and happy life" explores Soviet architecture, urbanism and the history of town planning.
In 1955, a resolution was adopted "On elimination of excesses in design and construction", which is opened a new path and opportunities for soviet architecture to join a global process, relive an experience of international modernism and to create an image of the modern city in which we live today. The conference participants will offer their interpretations of soviet modernism, aesthetics and stylistics, ideological and economic ideas, cultural images and social forces behind it.
During the conference, philosophers, culturologists, historians of art and architecture, sociology, current architects and professionals in the field of media studies will present a wide range of phenomena in the field of architecture and urban planning of the Soviet modernism, and how their scientific development.
A conference "A long and happy life" is part of a three-year project of the Museum "Garage",which is dedicated to soviet modernism and developed under the leadership of the international adviser in the "Garage" Georg Schollhammer.
