The exhibition will feature video recordings of four performances that staged the group u / n multitude during 2014. By "score» u / n multitude means a single statement, which relates the artist and political context of the era.
The earliest "political score", "Cook against Webern," based on the story of the tragic death of Austrian composer, mistakenly shot in their own home by cook soldier of the American army shortly after the end of World War II. Contexts to which refer the following "scores" also addresses to the relationship between people and government. Moreover, in all the performances, one way or another, there is a reference to the problem of mass militarization of consciousness and reflex division into friends and foes, the recognition of the strength and power of obedience, built on violence.
Performance "A Brief History of denunciations" consists of texts of real denunciations, taken from the archives of the security services of tsarist, Soviet and modern Russia and adapted for voice and piano. Repressive mechanisms of power in these cases is often the only mediator in private conflicts or consequence of the "prisoner's dilemma" when the accusation was the lesser of two evils.
In "Music of prisons» u / n multitude read out "House Rules of Life" in Dmitrovlage – the largest division of th eGULAG where prisoners kanaloarmeytsy joined Moscow – river with the Volga.
The fourth "score", "Donkey Mass", refers to the example of the confrontation of government and society – the famous Khrushchev's speech, that he said in the Arena to the avant-garde artists in 1962. Sound of absurd quotes, repeated in performance, ironically distributed throughout the exhibition.
Special Project START – is a special non-profit nationwide project of the Center for Contemporary Art Winery, focused on the support, development and promotion of young Russian artists.
