Regardless of state and private institutions of art – gallery in former factory MELZ opened in Moscow on the initiative of artist Leonid Larionov in December 2012. After a long search for a suitable location for an experimental exhibition activities, he assembled a team of artists – like – minded people and just friends, and some time later the industrial plant has turned into a large exhibition space. Former industrial premises on the top floor of impressive size and a special atmosphere.
After a few months of difficult works was held the discovery of the art – site "Perimeter" – experimental space merge an unlimited range of artists – students and graduates of the Moscow art – schools: "Free Workshops" RPNS, School. of Rodchenko. For the first year of its existence, the art playground held a number of group exhibitions, concerts and meetings, and became known to artistic community. By the summer of 2013 was formed the main part of of artists – Leonid Larionov, Elena Martynenko, Albert Coldatov, Natalia Timofeeva, Dima Filippov, Oleg Frolov – which has since been responsible for the development of alternative artist-run space in Moscow.
Artists build an exhibition plan: in addition to creating individual projects, they independently supervised group exhibitions, inviting independent curators and writers of personal projects. Already in autumn of 2013, this group of artists put their collective project under the 5th Moscow International Biennale.
In the spring of 2014 the art playground "Perimeter" continued its activities under a new name – gallery "Elektrozavod." The new stage is connected with the understanding that the gallery has reached a professional level, when it voice sounds confident in dialogue of the galleries and exhibition halls in Moscow, without losing the experimental nature.
