In the heart of the Boulevard is located neat mansion, one of the witnesses of old Moscow. It blends harmoniously with the dynamic life of the city and at the same time keeps the mouthwatering aroma of history. On entering in the house – museum gives the impression like time stopped for a moment: you pass by location suite of rooms, the guide tells the fascinating story of the great Russian actress Maria Nikolaevna Yermolova and her genuine "life in art." It seems that somewhere nearby, with light noiselessly walks around the house and she is celebrated hostess.
The House features are surprising combined of classicism of the end of the XVIII century and Art Nouveau of XIX – XX centuries. There are always carefully kept the traditions. After purchasing the house of Yermolova and her husband, a prominent lawyer N. Shubinsky, they not change neither the situation not the color of the walls. And to this day – in the spirit of the fashion of the XVIII century – preserved "colored" rooms, and yellow, and green living rooms, and a brilliant White Hall, where the artist Valentin Serov wrote famous Yermolovskiy portrait.
House – Museum of Yermolova – is theatrical space. Here are stored vintage posters performances, theatrical props, costumes and authentic costumes. In one of them – an iron chain mail and with a sword – Ermolova played his legendary Joan of Arc, and in another – in strict black dress a la «Turgenev girl" – read the fiery poems of N. Nekrasov before an enthusiastic student audience.
