

Anna Semyonovna Golubkina (1864 – 1927) is a representative of the galaxy of the greatest masters of the artistic culture of the Silver age. Dedicated to her the museum was opened on the 21-st of May, 1934. The basis of the museum collection consisted of works transferred by the family of the sculptor as a gift to the state pursuant to the will of Golubkina to make a collection of her works available for viewing. The museum is located in a conservation area of old Moscow, between the streets of Prechistenka and Arbat. Here in 1910, Anna Semyonovna had taken two large art studios. The collection of museum consists of works created in different years. This is a round sculpture, reliefs, and figurines.
The halls are represented the portraits, genre compositions, sculpture groups for fireplaces, decorative sculpture. Today the collection includes about 1,500 exhibits, including 300 sculptures. The museum has a unique collection of gems Golubkina created by the artist in the 1920-ies. In the memorial part of the museum one can see preserved household items, photographs of Anna Semyonovna, her family and friends. The work of A. S. Golubkina surprisingly in tune with the Silver age, the era of symbolism and art Nouveau, the epoch seeking new forms in art. Nowadays, the museum has preserved the special atmosphere of the artistic Atelier of the last century. Visiting it, you will be able to see the workplace of the sculptor, his tools and materials, but most importantly, the sculpture, which was admired by contemporaries and appreciated by the descendants.
