

November 22, 1975 at the initiative of Kvitko Zoe Vsevolodovna – literature teacher of school № 456 Moscow, Volgograd region, Tatyana Bogomolova Germanovna, an employee of the Ministry of Ferrous Metallurgy and Komarova Ilya Ilyich, a military engineer, was opened to the public "Museum of K. Paustovsky." In 1984, the Public "Museum of K. Paustovsky" received the honorary title of People's Museum.
Exhibits for the first exposure gathered by pupils of school № 456 Moscow, members of the literary – Dramatic Circle, in numerous expeditions to places associated with the life and work of the writer (Solotcha, Sevastopol, Odessa, Leningrad, Kiev, Tarusa, Ryazan, Moscow, Moscow region). As part of the club's "Golden Rose" (director Ivan Komarov) in a museum literary events each year celebrated the birthday (May 31) and Memorial Day (July 14), of the writer. A large part in the public museum took Paustovsky V., T. Arbuzov, G. Arbuzov, V. Zheleznikov, A. Batalov, Okudzhava, A. Borshchahivskiy, R. Dostyan, M. Aliger and many other writers and artists.
Since 1987, the museum is located in the monument of wooden architecture of the XVIII century, relating to the estate of Prince Golitsyn "Vlakhernskoe – Kuz'minki" in the "House of the gardener" ("Grey's dacha"). In 1991, the museum changes its founding Charter and takes Literary Museum – center of K. Paustovsky.
Since 1992, the museum publishes cultural – educational magazine "World Paustovskogo." The museum held constant work on updating and scientific systematization of fund collection, the study of the life and literary heritage of the writer, systematic scientific conferences in Moscow and in areas associated with the creative biography of K Paustovskogo (St. – Petersburg, Ryazan, Pilipcha, Odessa). Much of the work of the museum is dedicated to preserving the memory of the writer and the promotion of his work in Russia and abroad. For children and adults, employees of the museum developed cultural – educational program in which themed guided tours, lectures and literary – musical evenings.
