

State Literary Museum (SLM) is the largest Museum in Russia "The history of Russian literature". In May 1931, the people's Commissariat of education of the RSFSR has established a special commission for the preparation and organization of the Central literary Museum in Moscow. In 1933, was organized by the Central Museum of fiction, criticism and journalism, and in 1934 it merged with the Literary Museum in Moscow library of the USSR, was named after V. I. Lenin. Thus arose the State Literary Museum. The initiator of its creation and its first director was Vladimir Bonch – Bruevich.
Today funds GLM comprise more than 700 thousand units, documenting the history of Russian literature from the earliest times. This manuscript and early printed books, editions and autographed books writers, personal archives and collections of figures of Russian literature and culture, archives, publishers, creative, unique pictures, works of outstanding Russian artists, artworks, monuments of culture, way of life, a collection of memorial things, the collection of playbills and posters, records of folklore, fonotipia voices of writers and videos of their performances.
State Literary Museum would be correct to call the constellation of museums, because it includes twelve exhibitions located not only in Moscow but also in the suburbs. These nine memorial houses and apartments, associated with the names of the most outstanding Russian writers and poets, and literary and historical exhibitions. The main building of the Museum on the street Petrovka is not inferior to them in a historical flavor. In the XVII century there was a Moscow court boyars Naryshkins. From the Naryshkin family was the mother of Tsar Peter the great Natalia Kirillovna, and those walls held the childhood of the future Emperor. Guests of the Museum has a unique opportunity not only to touch history, literature, and history in general. Because literary history of any country is reflected most vividly.
