Graphic technique mezzo tint is owned by no more than 500 artists worldwide. Japanese Master Katsunori Hamanisi – is one of them.
Mezzotint (Italian mezzo – average, tinto – colored) is a sophisticated form of engraving. The image on the printed form created by lightening of the picture on pre-grained surface. When printing a print is obtained velvet – black background from which a light pattern emerges. Such an effect cannot be obtained with other "tone" manner.
In the second half of the XX century masters of mezzo tint began to introduce color into their works. However, it is Katsunori Hamanisi who started using catchy colors as the defining image – semantic factor. Masterfully combining in his work trends of world contemporary art and Japanese traditions, Hamanisi creates original works, focusing on the smallest details.
