December 8, 2015 in the Main archival city Department of Moscow started its work the exhibition "The report from the past of Moscow. To the 160-th anniversary since the birth of V. A. Gilyarovsky."
An exhibition project is timed to the Year of Literature in Russia,which was prepared by the main Bureau on archives of Moscow together with Department of culture, tourism and protection of cultural heritage of the Vologda region. It takes place in the framework of the agreement between the Moscow Government and the government of the Vologda oblast on trade – economic, scientific – technical, social and cultural cooperation. The exhibition is presentsed historical and documentary materials identified in the interarchival cooperation of the Main archival city Department of Moscow and the State archive of the Vologda region.
The exhibition is timed to the 160-th anniversary since the birth of one of the best representatives of Metropolitan journalism – Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovskogo. He introduces anyone who is interested in the history of the capital not only with the biography of the most famous chronicler of Moscow, "The king of Moscow reporters", but the documents, which reflected life in Moscow late XIX – early XX centuries, the fate of the characters of his stories, and described by the author of the event.
The head of the Main archival city Department of Moscow -Yaroslav Onopenko said that the exhibition features more than 125 exhibits from the collections of the Main archival city Department of Moscow and about 20 documents of the State archive of the Vologda region. "Among them are unique documents about the origin, childhood and adolescent years of the writer's life, the autographs of V. A. Gilyarovsky, the statements of his famous contemporaries – M. D. Teleshov, K. G. Paustovsky, and V. M. Doroshevich, V. M. Vasnetsov showing the talent, dedication and love to the point, honest and caring man, able to write brilliantly about the most notable and notorious events of its time" – told Ya. Onopenko.
In the thematic sections of the exhibition are exhibited documents, confirming the multifaceted range of creativity of Vladimir Gilyarovsky, who has become the most famous and recognized expert in Moscow. Raised in its journalism development problems of the capital that existed a century ago, are of interest and require further study as an historical experience. Documents of the Moscow city Duma and the Moscow office of Governor – General say that the activity of Vladimir Alekseevich was not a pursuit of sensations, and, often, the result of his publications was to draw attention of the authorities to solve the acute social issues: streamlining of trade, improve the work of the Metropolitan water supply, for example, the conclusion of the river Neglinka in the pipe to the mouth.
A separate section of the exhibition is presented the materials of the last decades of his life -Vladimir Gilyarovsky: 1920-1930-ies, when his visiting card has become the book "Moscow and Muscovites".
