4 June 2015 - 4 October 2015
5 of June at ENEA will be opened an interactive entertaining science museum. Pavilion №64 «Optics" Polytech present an exhibition "Alice in Science land" disclose with the point of view of science essence of amazing phenomena described in the famous English fairy tale by Lewis Carroll.
Why for creating of the exhibition has been chosen exactly "Alice in Wonderland"? Why the story told by a mathematician, philosopher and storyteller Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who wrote under the pen name Lewis Carroll, read and reread people of all ages around the world? What could inspire a theoretical physicist in the fairy tale about a girl had fallen down the rabbit hole? Why everything that happens with Alice in Wonderland is not surprising for young children?
The exhibition is called "Alice in Science land" because really Science land – this is the Wonderland. To make the discovery, step farther than all predecessors, any scientist – whether a chemist, a physicist, a philosopher – have to "break the patterns": to go beyond the ordinary, get rid of the traditional understanding of all, look the other side of known, imagine non-existent.
The tension between the familiar and the new – a key feature of created by Caroll world in which everything is turned upside down. The curiosity and the ability to be surprised at all times considered a catalyst for scientific progress. If Charles Darwin was not questioned earlier theory of the origin of man, we wouldn’t have even the notion of "evolution". If Max Planck did not ask questions about the ways of the Energy Distribution in the normal spectrum, is unknown, whenever would appear quantum theory. Science deals with the most amazing properties of the world that been disclosed, turns out he most puzzling incredible, the most "wonderful" fairy tale.
The exhibition "Alice in Science land" with unique scientific attractions and interactive exhibits will consist of five sections: "Restless Universe: the transformation of the space", "The Wheel of Life: the transformation of living matter", "Once, never and no time: the impermanence of time," "Rules of metamorphosis: the measurement and changes in mathematics", "Unreal reality: the puzzle of our perception."
