Memorial Museum of A. N. Scriabin is the only one in Moscow and one of the few in the world where people have managed to keep intact the atmosphere of the apartment stayed at its composer. Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin had been held at № 11 on the Big Nikolopeskovsky lane three years of his life – from 1912 to 1915. In this house was going to color the Moscow intelligentsia, the brightest representatives of the rich talents of Silver age: K. Balmont, V. Ivanov, Y. Baltrusaitis, N. Berdyaev, S. Bulgakov, L. Pasternak, S.Meyerhold, A. Tairov and many others.
During the civil war and after the revolution to save the creativity of the composer and his apartment did much Century A. Lunacharsky, head of people's Commissariat of education. 20 August 1918 widow Scriabin, T. F. Slatzer, received the "Security deed" (preserved copy of the document dated 19 October 1922). Officially, the Museum was opened to visitors on July 17, 1922. T. F. Slatzer had became the first director of the museum.
The furniture, preserved intact for such a long time, creates the environment in which he lived and worked as a composer. All the items of furniture are original works by famous artists, furniture makers of the early twentieth century, in particular the famous designer Serrula – Bowie from Liege, who worked in the style of art Novo. These include dining furniture, Desk, desks, chairs and favorite cozy chair composer. The art Nouveau – style furniture was brought by A. N. Scriabin from Belgium in 1912.
Also, the exhibition documents, printed materials with autographs, photographs, correspondence of A. N. Scriabin, posters and programmes, manuscripts, notes, published during the composer's life publishers – M. P. Belyaev and B. P. Yurgenson, newspaper and magazine articles.
Personal library composer consists of books and periodicals, publications of the late XIX – early XX century. It mainly works on philosophy, theosophy, ethics, aesthetics, science, poetry collections, a selection of magazines and Newspapers over the years. Many books contain notes A. N. Scriabin, so the library can be considered unique. To date researchers work A. N. Scriabin constantly refer to the library of the composer.
The Museum is interesting not only professional musicians but also the widest possible audience as a typical example of the situation of a city apartment of the late XIX – early XX century in the art Nouveau style. A variety of lectures and concerts, literary events and recitals, annual music festivals "Prometheus" and "Cultural heritage of the Arbat" with the participation of famous musicians and young artists, numerous exhibition projects are always in demand by museum.
