Punctum is a unique project Daria Dmitrieva and Valerie Kosyakova.
Punctum – is a small, free, cultural center, where every day there are various activities: lecture, demonstrations, seminars, concerts, exhibitions… basically paid (the center is self – sustaining) and sometimes free (because of its cultural significance). We support various initiatives, relevant cultural projects of young artists (all exhibitions for artists free), special workshops (art of people with disabilities). We conduct scientific seminars and round tables, as well as recitals. We have a cosy, underground atmosphere and a small art shop. We want to develop, and we do it every day!
In the early autumn of 2011, in the heart of the big city was opened a small humanitarian center “Punctum”. After a month “Punctum” became a place with its own atmosphere, where you can come for fellowship, education, “knowledge without borders”, the original and classic lectures.
“We were not going to create another half – closed center or gallery, where you can relax only to their friends, not at all. We are talking about public lectures, where anyone who still wants to think and to develop could come and learn something new,” says organizer center “Punctum” Daria Dmitrieva. “We have created such a place in Moscow, which would speak about culture and art, was opened by knowing about what they’re doing modern humanists place where you can hear expert lecture told unscientific language”.
The idea of a small space, where over a Cup of tea, you can talk to the lecturer about the cultures of the past, to train memory on training with a professional mathematician theorist or get acquainted with the famous films of the classics and Hollywood cinema was more than demand. Many lectures were being recorded for a few days, classes in the training were overcrowded and screenings have already become a regular practice.
“When we decided to create Punctum, it was just the perfect project, where could we work and young professionals, but no one supported, we did not have any information about whether such a place. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised that our center so soon became the resting place of so many people. We spent many lovely evenings with our stories of the scholars of the country’s culture, literature Akutagawa, Murakami, or watching the work of great photographers of the last century, discussions of classic and contemporary post-structuralist philosophy. Each of our lecturers he created the program, and of course chose exactly what was interesting to him and perhaps this is the key to success,” says co – organizer Valeria Kosyakov.
His first birthday Punctum will celebrate in a new location and with a new more interesting and varied programme. “This year we decided to expand the course offered lectures: modern art, classical art, history, culture, ancient civilizations, lectures on philosophy and Philology, a variety of trainings on self-development, psychology of personality, a course on the history of European architecture, courses in calligraphy, master classes in music history, music lovers club vinyl and literary lounge – all this is not a complete list of what is in our heart”.
The other good news was the opening of “Punctum” for children. Since the fall in Puncture” will be held courses on European art for the young audience of Moscow. The meeting is designed for children 8 – 12 years and mean the very first introduction of children with classic works of art, the basics of the culture and history of European thought.
It is important to tell more about the place where all this will take place. Now we have opened Punctum as a cultural center – free space, where the exhibited paintings of young artists will be small concerts – home parties, open daily and a small tea – cafe – Wi – Fi, where you can spend your time, a good place to work. And of course each evening will consist of lectures of young professionals and meters will run workshops on painting Europe and the East, in sculpture and modelling. This is the place for intellectual creativity, work and leisure.
“This neighborhood is completely different platforms, ranging from workshops and lectures and ending café gallery it seems to us more than important – it is in this way possible to create an atmosphere of the laboratory of knowledge, where you are directly involved”,declares the organizers Punchkula.
